Regenerative treatment can help people find relief from pain and chronic injuries which don’t react to more traditional therapies.
These regenerative techniques cause the body to heal or rebuild itself and can often fix the root cause of the pain. The aim is to heal injured tissue rather than just mask the pain.
Regenerative and stem cell treatment can treat joint, tendon and ligament injuries including patients with knee pain, shoulder rotator cuff tears, tennis and golfer’s elbow, heel pain, elbow pain, neck pain, back pain, joint pain and pain from arthritis.
Most non-operative treatments focus on easing the pain and other symptoms with injections, medications and physiotherapy. However these methods often can’t solve the cause of the problem and the pain continues. For example, steroid injections can relieve pain and issues associated with inflammation but it may be that it’s damaged tissue which is causing chronic pain and instability.
Regenerative therapies such as Lipogems® and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) help the healing process and ensure that the injury heals correctly therefore alleviating the pain.
Improvement in pain and mobility can take place within four to six weeks and patients can continue to see improvements for up to 12 months.
Our expert team specialises in treating all types of arthritis using advanced non-surgical techniques including stem cell therapy, Lipogems® adipose tissue transfer and platelet rich plasma therapy.
Lipogems® adipose tissue therapy is a minimally invasive treatment which uses your own fat tissue to promote healing.
Fat is essential for cushioning and supporting joints and helping the repair of damaged and injured tissue. Lipogems® therapy involves fat cells being taken from your abdomen while you are sedated with a local anaesthetic. Your collected fat is processed in the Lipogems® device which rinses and cleans inflammatory oils and blood and keeps the natural and beneficial properties of the fat tissue. This is then injected into the treatment site.
The procedure takes less than an hour and there is minimal recovery time.
Lipogems® therapy can also be used in conjunction with surgery to support the healing process.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy takes advantage of the blood’s natural healing properties to repair damaged cartilage, tendons, ligaments, muscle and bone. It can reduce pain and improve joint function.
With PRP, your blood sample is taken and then put in a centrifuge which separates platelets from other blood components. Platelets contain proteins which help wounds to heal. The concentration of platelets is then injected into the treatment site.
The procedure takes approximately an hour.
